During the Caliphate of Umar bin Khathab(رضي الله عنه) , conquest for Aleppo fort remained challenging.
Masruq bin Malik(رضي الله عنه ) narrates : ” By Allah, I never witnessed an attack on any Syrian fort greater than attack on Aleppo fort. As soon as Muslims came near, enemy opened fire with catapults and other weaponry. Defeat set amongst Muslims and many were shattered by the rocks. Some were killed by rocks and others injured. Years later, we would see men who were crippled from the incident”
Muslim army, lead by Abu Ubayda bin Jarrah(رضي الله عنه ) and which included several prominent sahabah like Khalid bin Waleed(رضي الله عنه ) couldn’t figure out a successive solution to capture this fort.
Damis Abu al Hawl, a fierce hero of Islam, accompanied by thirty brave warriors sneaked the enemy fort at night. He himself killed the guards of the fort and opened the gates for the Muslims.
When dawn approached, Damis along with his companions fought the enemy like savage lions. One by one, Muslim warriors started to meet their lord. Twenty warriors facing an enemy numbered more than five hundred!
Very soon, Khalid bin Waleed with the Muslim army rushed forward to the fort and Men like Dhiraar started striking enemy necks. It was just a matter of time, the Romans laid down their arms and begged for indemnity.
Aleppo was completely liberated and the Great Muslim army continued their march to conquest Syria.
📝 In present day, we witness the stiff resistance in Aleppo. But history will repeat In Sha Allah to prove that the likes of Khalid bin Waleed, Dhiraar, Abu Ubayda bin Jarrah, Damis Abu al Hawl are still alive and they are ready to conquest the whole of Syria.
